Description: The Second World War started in 1939 in defence of Poland. Poland's valiant stand against the onslaught of Nazi-Germany became the American President Roosevelt's war cry: "Poland the inspiration of the nations". However, five years later, the British Government's guaranties of Polish independence and Poland's heroic contributions and gigantic sacrifices in that war for the Allies were conveniently forgotten. In the Big Three conferences in Teheran and Yalta, the steadfast ally, without much concern, was handed over by Roosevelt and the British Prime Minister Churchill to the control of the communist tyrant Stalin.
